On the 6th of December 2011, EBRD together with Tractebel Engineering have organized the second edition of the EU EBRD Sustainable Energy Excellence Awards at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bucharest.

Within this Gala Event, EBRD has selected the ten best projects financed during 2011 under a joint EU-EBRD programme – the Energy Efficiency Finance Facility (EEFF). The energy efficiency investments in Romania’s private sector covered a wide range of industries from agriculture and food-processing to steel manufacturing and paper printing.

The EEFF, launched in January 2008 and designed to address Romania’s energy intensity, was actively supported by EBRD partner banks BCR, BRD, Banca Transilvania, CEC Bank, OTP Bank and Raiffeisen Bank. So far, 80 investments totaling €58 million have been financed under the EEFF, benefiting from EU-financed technical consultancy from Tractebel Engineering.

In fact, this has been a double event, being also considered the formal launch of a new EU EBRD Sustainable Energy Finance Facility for Romania – RoSEFF – which will include bank loans from participating financial institutions, technical consultancy from Tractebel Engineering and EU grants of up to 15% to help Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to finance energy efficiency and small-scale renewable energy investments.

Both EBRD’s facilities will continuously contribute to the increased visibility of Tractebel Engineering within the Romanian market, being recognized as a major player in consultancy for energy efficiency sector and as International consultant for EBRD.
