In Brazil, Tractebel Engineering has been active under the LEME brand since 2000, after acquiring the company of the same name.
LEME was founded in 1965. An expansion process started in 2002, when Tractebel Engineering incorporated COYNE ET BELLIER, Brazil. The year 2008 was marked by the acquisition of BC Projetos, an engineering company with great expertise in thermal power generation. In 2009 Tractebel Engineering acquired Econergy do Brasil, a company specialised in the carbon market.
