In Brazil, Tractebel Engineering has been active under the commercial name LEME Engenharia since 2000, after acquiring the company of the same name.

LEME Engenharia was founded in 1965. An expansion process started in 2002, when Tractebel Engineering incorporated COYNE ET BELLIER, Brazil. The year 2008 was marked by the acquisition of BC Projetos, an engineering company with great expertise in thermal power generation. In 2009 LEME Engenharia acquired Econergy do Brasil, a company specialised in the carbon market.

Today, LEME Engenharia is one of the leading consulting engineering companies in the Brazilian energy and infrastructure sectors. It develops and manages medium and big sized projects, acting since the preliminary phases of studies and designs until the final implementation of the enterprise.

It has a multidisciplinary team of specialists in energy generation (hydropower and thermal power), transmission (substations, transmission lines and telecommunications associated to the transmission systems) and infrastructure and sanitation. More recently, the company has been investing on new areas, such as renewable energy (biomass, wind power and solar energy), gas, ports and waterways.

Headquartered in Belo Horizonte (MG), LEME Engenharia has offices in Brasília (DF), Florianópolis (SC), Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and São Paulo (SP).
