Description

Shams-1 is the first solar thermal power plant in the United Arab Emirates. It is located in Medina Zayed (Abu Dhabi), and has a power output of 100 MW.

 
The plant hosts about 700 solar collectors, for a mirror area of 300 hectares. The power island – composed of one steam turbine and generator – is connected to the public transmission grid operated by TRANSCO, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA). The plant is also connected to public gas and water networks owned by GASCO and ADDC respectively.

 

Tractebel Engineering manages and coordinates the works performed by the EPC contractor related to the interfaces with TRANSCO, GASCO and ADDC.

 

Tractebel Engineering can offer the client a proven experience and understanding of all the issues related to the engineering management of the electrical and gas interfaces for a power plant in the UAE.

 

Our team is fully integrated with the client’s. We mainly work from the client’s office in Abu Dhabi, with regular visits to the TRANSCO, GASCO and ADDC offices/installations and to the Shams-One construction site.
